Employees of Punjabi University in Patiala have been protesting over repeated delays in salary payments, raising concerns about financial difficulties faced by teaching and non-teaching staff. Employees have demanded the immediate release of pending salaries and a permanent system to ensure timely monthly payments. Staff representatives have also highlighted pending service-related demands, including promotions and other benefits. The salary delays have been linked to the university’s financial difficulties and the pending release of government grant-in-aid. Employees are urging the Punjab Government and university administration to resolve the issue promptly and ensure that staff members receive their salaries on time. [Source: The Tribune]
