Chandigarh Rain Brings Much-Needed Relief as Temperatures Drop Across the City
Chandigarh witnessed a welcome change in weather after rainfall brought much-needed relief from the recent warm and humid conditions, making the atmosphere cooler and more pleasant for residents. According to reports published on October 12 and 13, 2026, the city received 14.4 mm of rainfall on Sunday, October 11, resulting in a noticeable drop in maximum temperature fell to 25.9°C on Sunday, around 6°C below normal, while the minimum temperature dropped sharply to 17.2°C by Monday, October 12. The change brought respite to residents who had been experiencing unusually warm conditions in the preceding days. The rainfall also affected neighbouring areas, including Mohali and Panchkula, where showers contributed to cooler weather across the Tricity region. However, the relief may be accompanied by further changes in weather, as the India Meteorological Department has forecast the possibility of additional rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in the region. Residents have been advised to remain cautious during sudden showers, particularly while travelling, as wet roads and reduced visibility can create difficulties for commuters. The recent rainfall has provided a refreshing break from the heat and brought more comfortable temperatures to Chandigarh, although weather conditions are expected to remain changeable over the coming days.
